Introduction

Hello, everyone!

Today, we'll continue exploring Hoenn Pokémon by revisiting a few of the most powerful Aggron of all time. In this article, we'll go through the very first Aggrons ever released (namely, in the Ruby & Sapphire block in 2003) all the way to its most recent versions.

Top 10 Best Aggron of All Time

10 - Team Magma's Aggron (Ruby/Sapphire: Team Magma VS Team Aqua)

Our first Aggron is Team Magma's Aggron. This version was a strong attacker in Team Magma archetypes thanks to Team Magma's Claydol MA 8, which lets you move energies between this type of Pokémon.

Its first attack can deal up to 60 damage depending on your coinflips. As for its second attack, it is riskier, but useful as a last-case scenario because it deals extra damage if you discard the energies attached to Aggron.

This card is only available in the U150 and Palace formats.

9 - Aggron (Sword/Shield: Chilling Reign)

This Aggron stands out because it does two important things:

Its attack, Guard Press, makes this Pokémon take 30 less damage the turn after you use this attack.

As for Seismic Rift, it deals a whopping 240 damage, but also deals 30 damage to all your benched Pokémon.

In Expanded, an interesting strategy to get the energies you need for this Pokémon is playing Magnezone UPR 83. This Pokémon lets you attach Metal energies to your Pokémon straight from your hand.

8 - Aggron (Sword/Shield: Darkness Ablaze)

This Aggron stands out because of its ability, Sturdy, which protects it from being knocked out with a single strike. If you use this ability, it will survive with 10 HP in that case.

It is a decent option in Expanded.

7 - Aggron (Scarlet/Violet: Twilight Masquerade)

This Aggron is an upgraded version of Aggron CRE 111 in terms of reducing damage. Its attack, Guard Claw, makes it take 50 less damage, and also deals 120 damage.

The most significant difference, however, is its attack, Angry Slam, which deals 50 damage for each Pokémon you have with a damage counter. In the best-case scenario, you can deal up to 300 damage with it, or even 450 damage if you use Sky Field ROS 89 in Expanded.

In Standard, you can explore this effect with Area Zero Underdepths SCR 131, as long as you also put a Terastal Pokémon in play.

6 - Aggron (Sword/Shield: Crown Zenith)

Out of all "baby" Aggrons, this one definitely stands out because of its attack, Counter Press. It not only deals 90 damage, but also returns the damage your opponent dealt to them on the following turn, even if Aggron is knocked out. It is a powerful surprise against opponents that deal way more damage than necessary.

5 - Aggron ex (Ruby/Sapphire: Crystal Guardians)

With its ability, Intimidating Armor, this Aggron ex prevents basic Pokémon from using Poké-Body and Poké-Power abilities, which makes it a highly strategic card from the Ruby/Sapphire block.

4 - Aggron ex (Ruby/Sapphire: Sandstorm)

This Aggron, another classic from the Ruby/Sapphire block, has a very versatile attack that deals extra damage if the enemy Pokémon has any damage counters. It also has a "sniper" attack that deals damage to all Pokémon on your opponent's bench.

3 - Aggron-EX & Mega Aggron-EX (X/Y: Primal Clash)

M Aggron-EX PRC 94, which features the Mega Evolution mechanic, has an attack that can deal up to 240 damage if you hit your coin flips. However, you'll need to play around any damage it may deal to your own benched Pokémon.

I highly recommend you use Tools like Memory Capsule VIV 155 and special energies like Memory Energy LOT 194 if you want to make the most out of its previous attacks.

2 - Aggron V (Sword/Shield: Brilliant Stars)

This Aggron has an attack called Rock Slide that both deals damage to the opponent's active Pokémon directly and deals damage to their benched Pokémon. As for Merciless Strike, it deals 150 extra damage, plus 150 base damage, if your opponent's active Pokémon has any damage counters.

1 - Aggron VMax (Sword/Shield: Brilliant Stars)

Aggron VMax is our best Aggron, and has two impressive attacks:

Cracking Stomp deals 150 damage and discards a card from the top of your opponent's deck.

Max Take Down deals 170 base damage to enemy Pokémon, and 30 damage to Aggron itself.

Just like Aggron V, you can use its previous attacks if you use Tools like Memory Capsule VIV 155 or Shining Celebi PR-SM SM79's Time Recall ability.
